  • North Carolina State University Raleigh, NC (map)

The College of Education at North Carolina State University (NCSU) hosts Dr. Terrell Strayhorn for a research lecture titled, "Why Sense of Belonging Matters So Much for Black Students at White Institutions: Historical Contexts & Recent Survey Findings." In this public lecture, Professor Strayhorn will provide provocative comments about the historical contexts of race and cross-racial peer interactions at predominantly White institutions (PWIs), especially the presence of Black Americans at PWIs in honor of Black History Month, before presenting new findings from a survey of over 800 college students that clearly show the significance of sense of belonging on Black students' success at PWIs and beyond.
